Grayson’s American lit

  Prompt Response:  Over winter break I drove up to Black Mountain North Carolina with my family and girlfriend. We spent a lot of time trying restaurants in Asheville and walking into shops. However, on our last full day I drove over to sugar mountain by myself and was able to snowboard for very cheap because it was a weekday. Summary: I went to Black mountain and sugar mountain over break. Reflection:  I spent time with family and got to snowboard which is one of my favorite things to do.

Response- I would say That my parents have given me many useful pieces of information in life. However, some of the advice my mom has given me when it comes to friends has been the most important she’s always taught me to not stay around people who are fake or caught up too much in the idea of being in a big group, and she rather told me to focus on making real friends. This allowed me to build good connections with good people who have never done anything wrong to me. Summary- my mom helped me understand how to pick friends are good for me. Reflection-Asking adults in your life for advice can be very beneficial because of what they know from wisdom and their own personal experiences.

  Prompt Response:   Working in a group always seems to be a challenge in some way, however I think the largest problem is getting everybody to do their fair share. Many times when working in a group I have had to complete my part and someone else because they choose to sit back and not do it. This taught me to choose better people to work with and ensure they will pull their weight. Summary: Working in groups can have its ups but also can be negative for some when others choose to not pull their weight. Reflection:  I have learned that when assigned a group project the most important thing is to choose good productive people not always your friends.

  Prompt Response:  Writing an essay can be very challenging sometimes, and I always seem to struggle with the body paragraphs, or being told I have to write more when I feel its already complete. It can be frusturating when I know what I want to write about but dont know how to transfer it to the paper. I plan to fix this by just writing my ideas and thoughts out, then turning them into a essay. Summary: I struggle with writing the body paragraphs and meeting word limits or teacher requirements. Reflection:  I think going foward the most important thing is to put my thoughts onto paper instead of jumping straight to it.

  Prompt Response:  In my life, I have had a few real moments that feel like the beginning of a powerful story. For example, beginning to build a work ethic by doing lawn work for neighbours eventually led to me being employed at my first restaurant job. Through that job, I learned to save, manage my time, and develop critical life skills. I am now working at my 3rd job at Cava, making more and saving more than I ever imagined. Summary: Working allowed me to develop a work ethic and critical social skills. Reflection:  I always like to think bigger and into the future. I work as much as I can so that I can have extra money when I go to college, and maybe even buy a new car before I go.
